Marion Fawlk, poet & artist

“I believe Art to be a vehicle of Spirit .. within us all are hieroglyphs of the Soul... virginal alphabets unlettered tapers waiting to be revealed. The inner impulse to create always heralds the birth of a new butterfly. Music and the Visual Arts transcend all boundaries. They are wonderful dialogues between civilisations. Rumi says there are many languages in the world but they all have the same meaning..... in essence we are all filaments of stardust weaving the same dream. Art for me needs to be people centric and my connection with Morocco is an ongoing dialogue between Art and the beauty of compassionate consciousness.”

EXHIBITION “Salam”
The Gallery, 1 Middle Street, STROUD, Glos. UK

My creed is Love
Wherever its caravan turns along the way
That is my belief
My faith

Ibn Arabi

This exhibition was a rare and special opportunity to see the profound and sacred photography of artist Marion Fawlk taken from her extraordinary time spent in Fez, Morocco.
Her love of the Moroccan culture, her eye for seeing beauty and poetry all around, and her affinity with Sufi text were celebrated in an exhibition called “Salam”.
As part of the exhibition there was an afternoon of Sufi poetry and Moroccan oud music.

“a very stylish event with a Moroccan oud player creating a magical ambience.”
Bard on a Bike, Stroud

Marion has also exhibited with the Moroccan Tourist Board and at the Orientalist Gallery, Fez. She was invited to read her Sufi poems at the International Festival of Sufi Culture at Musee Batha, Fez. 2009.
