“Delighting in Rainbows”

I sleep in clouds of morning
where the fist of dark waters
holds my slumbering
immortality
known to the eye of the palm
waiting for Light and the open hand of rainfall

I lie soft as a dawn seed
born into the stillness of this opulent pool
filling me diffusing me
until the moment Shines in a raindrop

The voice that has shaped me
wakens me with LIGHT
and I am glad to be small, a particle of this, where my face is JOY
coloured with infinitude

I am changed, become miracle
and in the company of Rainbows find my final transformation

The poem ‘Delighting in Rainbows’ was inspired whilst walking in Cumbria, when the darkness of storm became messenger of Light. It was a moment in time when the inner and outer worlds meet, when the impulse of soul recognises a divine metaphor. The gathering of rainbows over Coniston Water was for me, a powerful image of inner transformation, expressing the sacred mysteries of the ‘hidden journey’. Marion Fawlk
